Van Gogh’s portrait in Oil Pastels
Our Monday Live on Monday 16 March will be devoted to the portrait of Van Gogh.
Dutch painter of the 19th century, Vincent Van Gogh develops a very personal style, recognizable by his intense colors, his energetic touch and his constant need to translate emotion rather than realism.
For this live, we will work with oil pastels, a technique adapted to the spirit of Van Gogh. Their pigment richness and unctuosity allow to place the color, to superpose the layers and to draw marked contrasts.
On the program:
--> setting up the proportions and large masses of the face
--> work of textures
--> exploration of Van Gogh’s iconic colors: deep blues, greens, ochers and warm touches
--> creation of a dynamic background thanks to hatching and overlays
--> accentuation of expression: gaze, beard, material of the garment
