A Swan in Gouache
For this February 9th Monday Live , we are going to paint in gouache a sumptuous swan. A very interesting subject to practice gouache through the whiteness of the plumage, the volumes of the swan, and the green reflections of the lake.
On program :
The implementation of the creation: silhouette of the swan, waterline, balance between the swan and the water, work with white in gouache: colorful shadows, contrasts, bright points, build the volume of the body and wings without trying to reproduce details, paint the water: the small waves, the distorted reflections and the alternation of sharp and melted touches, then we will finalize with some precise details to enhance the elegance of the swan on the water.
Techniques addressed:
• opaque planes and overlaps
• melted with a wet brush
• soft contrasts
A perfect Monday Live to learn to paint the whiteness of a element in a colorful setting.
