Jean-Roch Sauer Raphaël Sennelier 2023 Award
The Taylor Foundation was created in 1844 and works to defend artists. Its vocation to support artistic creation is reflected in the organization of exhibitions and the awarding of numerous prizes. A prize in memory of Jean-Roch Sauer rewards a new artist each year with 3500€ and 1500€ of material.
On January 10th, Hugo Terracol received the "Jean-Roch Sauer, Raphaël Sennelier" prize during an evening organized by the Taylor Foundation. The event took place at the core of the Saint Georges theater. The prize was presented by Clotilde and Nina Sauer, respectively sister and daughter of Jean-Roch.
Born in 1988, Hugo Terracol is a French painter. Very young, he is passionate about drawing and painting. The most important meeting, which definitively sealed his artistic destiny, was the one with Zao Wou-Ki, in 2006. After discovering his work, the great Chinese master invited him to his Parisian studio to discuss painting, harmony, composition, and pictorial inspiration. This meeting, decisive in Hugo's career, was the founding element of the path of his current artistic approach.
Between 2009 and 2015, his career was marked by eight solo exhibitions and six group exhibitions. Following a break in exhibitions, the year 2020 marks his return to the artistic scene, with three solo exhibitions and two group exhibitions. In 2021, he participated in the Salon Comparaisons, as part of the Art en Capital event, organized at the Grand Palais, in Paris.
