Diamond Ring in Gouache

Monday, March 23, Monday Live will be dedicated to the painting of a ring with diamonds, this painting will be done in gouache. 

The objective with this theme is to learn how to work on reflections, shadows, light points, but also the small shades of colors that can be seen in diamonds (blue, gray…).

Gouache is the ideal technique for this subject : it allows to apply flat planes, to superpose, to come back with precise highlights and to obtain a smooth and luminous rendering.

On the program :

Setting up the drawing: proportions, crimping, shape of the ring, working on values to create the volume (metal, drop shadows), paint the effect "smooth" and the reflections of the metal and understanding the structure of a diamond: facets
