BARNABA SALVADOR

The passion of watercolor

Outdoors and in the studio, watercolor remains his preferred technique

As a child, he moved to Africa with his family, who worked in the tourism industry, and little by little, Africa became part of his innermost being. His long journey as a traveler led him to explore the continent's most unusual places, observing humanity in motion in African markets, with whom he shared the colorful chaos. A long history of travel during which he alternated his work as a graphic designer with that of a tour guide, thus combining his two great passions in his travel journals. Venetian by birth, he continued his artistic studies in his hometown, where he still lives. His watercolor painting style was probably influenced by his experience of the outdoors and the Notebook from life. He almost always works on dry paper and with little water, seeking a quick and clean brushstroke. What he enjoys is exploring strong contrasts and plays of light, where shadows play the most important role. This leads him to favor certain types of subjects in which it is easier to find or recreate marked contrasts. He uses a reduced palette, even in the studio, composed mainly of transparent and powerful colors. For several years, after abandoning other professions, he has made a living from his artistic work and leads watercolor workshops and courses in Italy and France.
